Tech Tip: Preserving styles when moving forms with 4D Insider
PRODUCT: 4D Insider | VERSION: | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: January 26, 2001

A useful feature of 4D Insider is the ability to move forms from one structure to another. If after moving forms you find that the objects on the form are losing their style sheet settings, there is a way to prevent that problem.

From 4D Insider's File menu, choose Preferences. From the pop-up menu that appears, select "Moving..." In the "Moving Preferences" dialog, you can fine-tune what will happen when you move a form. In this case, scroll down to the bottom of the list, where you'll find an item that reads, "If a style sheet with the same name does not exist:". The pop-up menu in that section gives you two choices: "Ignore" and "Copy the object." By choosing "Copy the object," you can be sure that when you copy forms, you won't lose style sheet references.
