Tech Note: Using ASCII Maps to Export and Import Data on the Windows Platform
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 3.x | PLATFORM: Win
Published On: February 1, 1996

This technote presents a technique for translating the ASCII characters stored within 4 th Dimension to the appropriate characters on the Windows environment, and vice versa. This is necessary whenever data is exported from 4D to other Windows applications, or is imported into 4D from a Windows text file. The 4D ASCII map feature is used to accomplish this. ASCII maps are explained in detail. Input and output ASCII maps for importing and exporting data between 4D and the US version of Windows are included with the example database for this technote.
