Tech Note: Creating a Program Item with a Custom Icon to Launch Your Executable File on Win
PRODUCT: 4D Compiler | VERSION: 3.x | PLATFORM: Win
Published On: August 1, 1996

This technical note explains how to create and customize a Program Item that will represent the executable file (you created with 4D Compiler Pro) when merging your compiled structure file with 4D Engine. In WindowsNT and Windows for Workgroups, the Program Item will launch this executable application. In Windows95, you can add the executable application to the Start or Programs menu.
On the Macintosh, when you use 4D Compiler Pro to merge your compiled structure file with 4D Engine, you create a stand-alone, double-clickable application. This application appears automatically in the MacOS Finder. On Windows, when you use 4D Compiler Pro to merge your compiled structure file with 4D Engine, the compiler generates three files:
• Customdb.EXE (the executable application)
• Customdb.4DC
• Customdb.RSR (the compiled structure file with its associated resource file).
