Automatically dialing a telephone number from within 4D allows you to save time and prevents you from dialing incorrect numbers. This technical note describes how to automatically dial a telephone number by using a connected modem and the 4D commands SET CHANNEL and SEND PACKET.

This technical note assumes that you have a Hayes-compatible modem. The existing interface possibilities for this type of modem allow you to drive it from within 4D. To use another modem that does not conform to these standards, please refer to its documentation.
