Tech Note: Storing User Created Queries in the Datafile
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 6.0 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: August 1, 1998

This technical note offers an alternative to the 4D Query editor by allowing you to store user-created queries in the datafile so that those queries can be used later from within a database method.

This approach offers several advantages. First, it allows the sharing of a single query among many users in client/server mode. Second, it facilitates the execution of complex queries, without the user having to recreate the queries each time they are used. And finally, it allows
the developer to use strored queries from within a project, without intervention by the end-user.

This technical note is accompanied by the "SearchReport" example database, which contains the forms and methods described below. You can recopy these elements into your own databases by using 4D Insider.
