This technical note is designed to present some alternatives to the built-in Sequence number command. Although easy to use, this command has some limitations which we will explore. In addition, we'll take a look at two possible alternatives, discussing the relative good and bad points of each method. Finally, we will look at expanding one of the methods to cover getting multiple sequence numbers within a transaction.
