In older versions of 4th Dimension, the mechanics of record loading were generally taken for granted. With the addition of newer features such as the BLOB (Binary Large OBjects) data type, there are now more reasons why your database might include very large records. For this reason, the details of record loading in 4D v6.5 deserve a closer look, particularly as this concerns large records and memory limitations. Understanding 4D’s record loading behavior can also help you optimize performance by minimizing network traffic, which is especially important over a wide area network.
