A simple technique to create a 3D animated graph is explained in this technical note, and demonstrated in the accompanying example database. This is done entirely with 4D V6 and its built-in 4D Chart module. No additional plug-ins are required. Experimenting with the example database is an entertaining way to familiarize yourself with the features of 4D Chart. The sample code helps explain some of the basic details involved in creating various graphs with 4D Chart. You may find this animated graph useful in presentations. It can also be included in an About Box, as illustrated in the example database.

The kind of built-in graphing capability provided by 4D Chart is unusual in a database product. Typically, to do any graphing at all with other database products, you need to buy an Active-X control, at an average cost of about $300.
