Developing a professional software application requires more than just writing code. Once an application is complete it may need to be:
-Maintained: This will be easier if naming conventions have been adopted and enforced. Additionally, other programmers may find it helpful if the code has been documented. Internal documentation is less likely to be lost than separate documentation files or scribbled notes.
-Localized for use in other countries. Menus, buttons, labels and other static text may need to be translated into other languages.
-Updated with code developed in other applications (or code from this application may be used elsewhere to save time and money).
