If you are using the ODBC Driver for 4D Server and are getting the following error:

Connection Failed Error: -1

This usually means that you have the 4D Network Components installed in the wrong directory or do not have them installed at all. So, if you are using the 6.5 ODBC Driver, you will need to use the 6.5F20 Network components. These Network Components are to be placed in the following directory:

C:\Winnt\ACI\Network\

Note: If you are using Windows 95/98/Me, it will be 'Windows' instead of 'Winnt'.

If you are using the 6.7.1 ODBC Driver, you will need to use the 6.7.1 Network Components. These Network Components are to be placed in the following directory:

C:\Winnt\4D\Network\

Now that you are using the correct Network Components and they are placed in the correct path, you should be able to connect to a 4D Server.
