Tech Tip: Importing Data from SYLK (Symbolic Link) Files
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: | PLATFORM: Mac & Win

SYLK: Symbolic Link - a file format for spreadsheet documents that stores formulas, cell and file links, date and number formats, etc. A Microsoft standard implementation with roots in the Multiplan spreadsheet application.
If you wish to import data from a SYLK file into 4D make sure it has the extension SLK (for example, "mydata.slk"), this will allow 4th Dimension on both the Macintosh and Windows platform to properly recognize the file for use with the IMPORT DATA command, or when selecting "Import Data..." from the File menu in User mode.
On a Mac, setting the file's TYPE code to "SYLK" using ResEdit or similar utility will also work.
