4D is often used to manipulate external documents. After the document has been processed it is often deleted using the DELETE DOCUMENT command. Documents deleted this way cannot be recovered.

An alternative is to place them in the Trash (Mac OS) or Recycle Bin (Windows). From here they can be retrieved later if needed.
