Tech Tip: Running 4D Backup commands from 4D Client
PRODUCT: 4D Backup | VERSION: 6.5 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: November 2, 2001

Logically, it would seem that a backup process should be executing locally. If the backup is going to be performed on the Server, then you might try to run the backup method as a stored procedure. However, this is wrong. You cannot run a method that calls the 4D Backup command as the stored procedure. It will quit 4D Server immediately if tried. All 4D Backup procedures must be called from a 4D Client process. 4D Client will execute the 4D Backup command, and internally send the task directly to the Server.
