Whether you run a local shop that conducts a few e-commerce transactions per day, or a high-flying Internet super-store that deals with hundreds to thousands of transactions per day, sometimes the default accounting mechanisms may prove to be insufficient. This may be the problem when, for example, the order number starts to repeat itself. The default setting is set to contain up to 99,999 items, customers, and orders. This could prove to be insufficient over time. However, the default setting of these numbers can easily be changed. Just edit the fields directly to increase or decrease the number of digits possible for each record type.

For example, if you want to increase the maximum number of item, customer, or order entry, just add more place holders (0's) in front of the current existing numbers. This way, you can guarantee that an order will not repeat an order id number for some time to come.
