Tech Tip: Reasons why a plug-In may appear to be missing in 4D v6.8
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 6.8 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: May 9, 2002

1) When you upgrade to 4D v6.8, you must also replace all your "4D plug-ins" to v6.8. Third-party plug-ins are excluded from this requirement.

2) You must have the plug-ins in the correct mac4dx or win4dx folder. The mac4dx or win4dx folder may be next to the database structure file, next to the 4D application, or in the preferences "4D" folder of the machine.

3) If it is in the right location and it is the current version, check the components tab in the explorer to see if the missing plug-in is listed.

3-a) If it is not listed, be sure that if you are on a Mac OS machine, you are using the "mac4dx" folder and inside the "mac4dx" folder, you have the "MACINTOSH" version of the plug-in. If you are on a "WINDOWS" machine, be sure that you are using the "win4DX" folder and inside the "win4DX" folder, you have the "WINDOWS" version of the plug-in. If you have any doubts, please download a new copy of the plug-in.

3-b) If it is listed but as "Disabled," you will need the correct plug-in serial number to make it work. Remember that a Macintosh serial number will only work for a Macintosh machine and a Windows serial number will only work for a Windows machine. Also remember that although a 4D stand-alone expansion serial number may contain the serial number of the plug-in you wish to use, it will not work in client/server mode.
