Tech Tip: Multiple Homes with 4D for Oracle
PRODUCT: 4D Oracle | VERSION: 6.7 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: July 31, 2002
Compatibility: 6.7x and 6.8.x
When connecting to an ORACLE database using 4D for Oracle, you may use several different Homes. If you do want to use the same TNSNAMES.ORA file with different homes, you can duplicate this file from one structure to the other structure.
However, you may want to share the same file and avoid duplicating it. To do so, you need to use the TNS_ADMIN registry entry or environment variable. If this is set, the ORACLE system will use the path found in this variable to locate the TNSNAMES.ORA file. There is no specific configuration to be performed in the 4D for Oracle plug-in.
