Tech Tip: Compiling and Building a merged application with 4D 2003
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2003 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: April 11, 2003

Yet another new feature of 4D 2003 is the ability to compile and build your structure file into an application. To compile a database structure, from the Design environment, select "Compiler" to use the Syntax Analyzer to first check your code, then if all is well, click the compile button to create a compiled version of your structure file.

After you have analyzed and compiled your application, you can do two things,

  1. You can actually run your database in compiled mode. To do so, select "Run Compiled" from the User menu.

  2. You can build a merged application, by specifying the location of your 4D Engine and then click on the build button.
