Tech Tip: Bringing up 4D's online Documentation through 4D, with no connection to the Web
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2003 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: June 6, 2003

With 4D 2003, there are several different ways of obtaining information/help regarding 4D Methods and their parameters. One method is to either direct your 4D app to 4D's online documentation at https://www.4D.com/docs/. This works great, however if you are working without an internet connection, this could be disastrous.

Here is what you can do:

  1. Download the online documentation in html format from:

    Documentation

  2. Unstuff/unzip the file.

  3. From the Preferences dialog in your 4D application, select the Design Mode/Documentation panel. Check the radio button "Local folder" and select the folder where the downloaded files are kept. Next time you launch 4D and need to see how a command is used, simply open the explorer in 4D and double-click on any of the built in 4D Commands you wish to view and your default browser will open with the documentation for this command.
