Starting with version 2003, you can compile from within 4th Dimension. However, 4D Server having a limited interface, it cannot compile. To compile your application, you will need to use a copy of 4D stand alone. This is why, when you purchase a 4D Server developer edition, you get an additional license for the sole purpose of compiling with 4D stand alone.
