Writing cached data (index pages, records and deletion markers) to disk has been optimized in 4th Dimension 2003. 4D database performance has been noticeably improved.

The gain in performance is particularly noticeable:

• under MacOS
• if the disk is fragmented
• if the quantity of data to be written to disk is considerable. The new algorithm is activated by default in 4th Dimension 2003. You can, nevertheless, deactivate it by programming using the SET DATABASE PARAMETER command (https://www.4d.com/docs/CMU/CMU00642.HTM).
