Tech Tip: Checking for the existence of a document or a folder

Compatibility: Version 6.8.x and 2003.x

When you are working with a document on a disk, it is always safe to confirm whether the file or the document that you are trying to open actually exists at the target location. By doing this, you can avoid an error that you may not be able to handle directly (such as -43: File not found). To check for an existence of a document, you have to use the command Test path name.
