Tech Tip: Drag and Drop in 4D Write 2004
PRODUCT: 4D Write | VERSION: 2004 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: September 23, 2004

In 4D Write 2004, you will notice that you now have the ability to perform drag-and-drop operations within the same 4D Write area, between two different 4D Write areas, or between a 4D Write area and a 4th Dimension area.

Data is moved only when the drag and drop is carried out within the same or between two 4D Write areas (i.e. they are removed from the original area). If you only want to copy the data, hold down the Ctrl (Windows) or Command (MacOS) key during the operation. Data is copied when going from a 4D Write area to a 4th Dimension area (ie. to 4D fields and variables).

Note: For use within a form, the areas (both plugin area and field/variable objects) must have the "draggable" property enabled in the property list in order for the data to be draggable. The same applies to an area that will have text dropped onto it. The "droppable" property must be enabled.
