Tech Tip: Setting the Client/Server communication TCP port on the server
PRODUCT: 4D Server | VERSION: 2004 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: November 11, 2004

In version 2004, you can now define the Port number the server uses in the database Preferences.

To change the port that 4D Server uses to communicate with 4D Client:
1- On Windows, select Preferences from the Edit menu, OR, on Mac OS, select Preferences from the 4D Server menu.
2- Expand the Client-Server item in the list.
3- Select the page Configuration.
4- At the top of the page, you can enter the new value for the TCP port.
Once this is done, you will need to restart the server. Also, to connect to the server, you will need to create a custom entry, where the IP address of the server is followed by a comma and the TCP port.
