Tech Tip: Registering and unregistering a service on 4D server on Mac OS X
PRODUCT: 4D Server | VERSION: 2004.1 | PLATFORM: Mac OS X
Published On: June 10, 2005

Starting with 4D Server 2004, you can register a database as a service for Mac Os X.
To register 4D server as a service follow the procedure:

-Launch 4D server with the structure file you would like to run as a service.
-From the File menu, select "Register Current Database as Service". Your database is now registered as a service.

If you currently have your database registered as a service and would like to unregister it, follow the procedure:

-Wait for 4D server to launch on start up. At this point you cannot select "Unregister Current Database" from the file menu because it is greyed out.
-Once launched, go to the 4D Server menu and select "Quit 4D Server" item.
-After quitting 4D server, launch 4D server again with the database that is registered as a service.
-Under the File menu, "Unregister Current Database" should now be available. Select that item.

Your database should now be unregistered. The next time your machine boots up, 4D server should not start up.
