Tech Note: Using ListBoxes as Subforms
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2004.7r3 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: July 25, 2005

4D 2004 gave us a complete rewrite for list style forms; including Output, Subforms and the User mode. In addition a new list style form object became available called a ListBox. You need to think of a list box as a grouped scrollable array with greatly enhanced capabilities. I've heard listboxes referred to a "grouped scrollable arrays on steroids." I've also heard people say it's hard to choose between whether to use a Subform or a ListBox. This Technical Note will not answer that question. But it will provide you with a few ideas were a ListBox might be better than a subform. And it will show you how you can use a ListBox in place of a Subform if that is what you would prefer.
