Tech Tip: Allowing source form objects to be manipulated by users
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2004.2 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: September 19, 2005

When enabling the form property "Editable by user", the designer is allowing users to manipulate the form. Originally, this source form that has been enabled "Editable by user" contains objects. These objects can also be manipulated by users, but this privilege must be granted by the designer. In order to do so, the designer must go into the property list of the object and unlock the property themes in which he wants users to manipulate. To unlock simply follow these steps:

-As the designer, go into the source form and select an object.
-Now go to the property list and view the following themes:
NOTE: Not all objects have these themes.

Animation (normally for picture buttons)
Coordinates & Sizing
Resizing Options

Background and Border

-These themes should contain a red locked icon meaning that the property is locked and cannot be changed by the user. To unlock, simply click on the red lock icon. The icon should now be green indicating that this object's theme property is now available for modification. This will need to be done for each object. Users should now be able to modify the objects.
