Tech Tip: Importing data exported from Excel to 4D
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2004 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: June 2, 2006

In order to import data from an Excel spreadsheet into 4D you need to export the Excel data.

4D can import CSV, TXT, SYLK, and DIFF file formats.

Data in Excel should be saved as a tab delimited text file. To do this, choose the 'File' and then the 'Save As...' menu item in Excel, and select the "Text (Tab delimited)" menu item as a file format. Then export the data to a file.

Import this saved file into 4D by going to 4D User Mode, and then choose the 'File / Import / From File...' menu item.

For more information on using the import and export features in 4D's User Mode please see the 4D User Reference documentation.
