Tech Tip: Testing project methods in a new process
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2003 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: February 17, 2006

The Execute Method window has a “New Process” check box that allows you to execute a project method in a new process. It is often a good idea to use a different process since the calling process is the User Environemnt process and comes with its set of constraints (current selection, limitations on dialogs and differences in behavior with the custom menus process).

To execute a method in a new process
1. Enter User mode.
2. Click the execute button in the toolbar.
 Or
Choose Method from the Run menu in 4D 2004.
 Or
Choose Method from the Special menu in 4D 2003.
3. Select the name of the method in the list.
4. Check the “New Process” check box.
5. Click the “Execute” button.
