If you get the error message "You are not allowed to convert this database" when upgrading a 4D database, this usually means that the database has a default user that is not Designer. In order to upgrade the database you need to hold down the SHIFT key during startup up and log in as Designer (or disable the default user in the previous version of 4D you are upgrading from).
