Tech Tip: Drag and drop of a command with its syntax
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2003 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: April 21, 2006

You can insert a command with its syntax by dragging it from the Explorer and dropping it in the method editor. The command will include its syntax and consists of all of its parameters in the Method editor. You can use the syntax that you need to adapt to your usage. This feature reminds you of the parameters that the command expects.

1. Enter Design mode
2. Open the Method editor
3. Open Explorer
4. Select the Commands button from the side panel
5. Drag a command from the Explorer and drop it onto the Method editor

You can choose not to insert the syntax by pressing the Alt key (Windows) or the Option key (Mac OS) when dragging the command.

Note: The "4D Help.rsr" for 4D 2003 and "4D Syntax.rsr" for 4D 2004 must be installed to automatically insert the syntax and parameters on drop.
