Tech Tip: Adding separator lines to menus
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2003 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: May 5, 2006

Groups of menu commands in a menu can be divided by a separator line. This convention is useful for grouping associated menu commands by function. You add a separator line by creating a menu command. Instead of entering the menu command's text in the current menu bar area, you simply select the Separator Line option in 4D 2004 or Line option in 4D 2003. Instead of text, a line appears in the current menu bar area. To add a separator line: 1) In Design mode, open the Menu Bar Editor. 2) Select the menu you want to change in the current menu bar. The menu commands for that menu appear in the list. 3) Choose Add Item from the menu associated with the add button located below the current menu bar area. 4th Dimension adds a new menu command to the selected menu. 4) Click the Separator Line check box property in 4D 2004 or Line check box property in 4D 2003 within the current item's properties area. The line appears in the current menu bar area.
