Tech Tip: Video driver problems and 4D on Windows
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2004 | PLATFORM: Win
Published On: May 12, 2006

If you experience a startup crash with 4D products running on Windows, e.g. you only see the 4D logo or the a window open briefly and then the crash occurs, be sure your video drivers are up to date.

Keep in mind that while PC manufacturers (like Dell, IBM, etc.) usually provide the drivers for download on their websites these driver packages are often quite old. It may be necessary to get the latest video driver package directly from the video chipset manufacturer (e.g. NVIDIA, ATI, etc.).

Also note in some rare circumstances it may be necessary to downgrade your video driver to a prior version if the newest version introduces a problem like this.
