In order to see the user interface when running 4D Server as a service on Windows you must set the service to be able to interact with the desktop. To do this:

-Open the "Services" dialog (usually found under "Administrative Tools").
-Select the 4D Server service.
-Right-click and select "Properties".
-Click on the "Log on" tab.
-Check the checkbox labeled "Allow service to interact with desktop".
