Tech Tip: Named Selections - CUT NAMED SELECTION
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: January 14, 2000
When using CUT NAMED SELECTION, 4D does not create a duplicate of the current selection - instead it creates a reference to it. This reference uses only 4 bytes and is therefore very economical in terms of memory. It also executes very quickly. The disadvantage is that the current selection becomes empty for that table in that process. Because it empties the current selection, and therefore the current record, it should not be used when a record has been created, but not saved.
