In order to clarify and harmonize the deployment possibilities for single-user versions, the following applications of the 4th Dimension product line have been renamed (their use remains the same as
previously):
- 4D Runtime becomes 4D Runtime Interpreted
4D Runtime Interpreted is used to execute a 4D database in interpreted mode (this application is provided free of charge and can be redistributed without restriction).
- 4D Runtime Classic becomes 4D Runtime Single User
4D Runtime Single User is used to execute a compiled 4D database.
- 4D Engine becomes 4D Runtime Volume License
4D Runtime Volume License can be integrated into a compiled 4D database in order to build a stand-alone executable application. As with 4th Dimension 2003 , 4D Runtime Volume License is available in the following versions: 4D Runtime Volume License Pro, 4D Runtime Volume License Sponsored and 4D Runtime Volume License Light.
