A trick that may be useful to you is that you can make your (non-automatic) buttons enable and disable the same way that automatic buttons do. Simply include automatic buttons with the same names as your custom buttons, and either make them invisible or place them off the visible portion of the form. When 4D enables/disables the automatic buttons, your custom buttons with the same names will follow suit.
