Tech Tip: Setting form size with a hidden rectangle
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2004.5 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: February 14, 2007

If a form is not loading with your desired size, one neat trick is to set the form size based on a hidden rectangle. This allows you to visually set the size of the form rather than having to edit the form size properties.

To do this, create a Rectangle form object, and size it so that it encompasses all of the objects of your form (or any size you desire). Set the "Line Pattern" to none. Move the rectangle to page 0 and be sure set the "Level" option to "Move to Back" so as to not obstruct other objects on page 0. Finally, go to the Property List of the form and under theme "Form Size", set "Size based on" to the object name of the rectangle.

This is a sure fire way to get have your 4D form loaded to a desired size. Also note that this rectangle will dictate the minimum size of the form as well.
