Within the 4D Tools program, the Recover by Tags option is listed under the "Repair" tab. This indicates that this feature should only be used when trying to repair the data file, not as a maintenance tool. The following requirements should be met first before performing Recover by Tags:
-The data is corrupt (4D or 4D tools may detects errors).
-A "clean" backup is not available.
-The Quick Repair features in 4D Tools do not fix the errors.
-All other options have been exhausted.
This feature should be seldom used and should never be performed on a regular basis. The Recover by Tags feature should be used as a last resort, when all other options have failed. If it is not clear why this is the case these Tech Notes may be of interest:
