Tech Tip: 4D, SSL, and Mac OS X
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 2004.6r2 | PLATFORM: Mac OS X
Published On: June 20, 2007

As you know when you try to launch 4D and publish the Web server on a port under 1024 you get a prompt asking you to authenticate with an admin password since Mac OS requires this. If you launch with the Web server with an HTTP port greater than 1024 BUT with the SSL port under 1024 you are NOT prompted to authenticate...thus the SSL port will not work.

So you have two possible solutions assuming the HTTP port needs be above 1024:

  • Set the SSL port above 1024.
  • Launch 4D as "root".
