Tech Tip: Copy the Contents of Folders when Upgrading the 4D Ajax Framework
PRODUCT: 4D Web 2.0 Pack | VERSION: 1.1 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: September 12, 2007

PLEASE NOTE: This Tech Tip applies to 4D Web 2.0 Pack version 1.1

On some operating systems, the act of copying folders themselves can overwrite existing folders completely.

When upgrading a database to a newer version of the 4D Ajax Framework, it is important not to overwrite or delete anything you created using the previous version of the framework. A small but crucial distinction between upgrading and installing the framework is that when upgrading you must copy the contents of the "dax" and the "support" folder into your existing web root folder and "support" folder, respectively.

Copying the contents of these folders does not overwrite any files you have created. Copying the folders themselves will overwrite existing folders and their contents completely on Mac OS.
