With the new version of 4D there have been many changes and one of them is in the deployment products and licenses. 4D Server has not been released yet, but here are the current deployment options and what they entail:

4D Interpreted Desktop

This license is included in 4D Developer Standard and lets developers deploy single user applications running interpreted on 4D Desktop.

4D Unlimited Desktop

This license is included in 4D Developer Professional and lets developers deploy single user applications running compiled on 4D Desktop and to build merged single user applications as well. This deployment option also includes 4D Write and 4D View expansions.

4D Web Application Server

This license is allows developers to deploy compiled or interpreted applications on 4D Desktop and serve them to the web using the 4D web server and web services. The Web Application Server also includes the SQL Pass Through and ODBC Login features to allow the database to connect to various back ends. This product is not included with 4D Developer Standard nor Professional Editions and must be purchased separately.

4D SQL Desktop

This is another separate license that is not included in the development products. It allows developers to deploy compiled or interpreted applications on 4D Desktop and to connect them to various back ends via the SQL Pass Through and ODBC Login features. This option includes 4D Write and 4D View expansions.
