The 4D application can now connect to 4D Server as a client; 4D Client is no longer necessary. When you launch 4D, the Welcome wizard is displayed. You can choose the “Connect to 4D Server” option or select from the File menu: Open->Remote database.
From here the steps are as follow:
- The window "Connection to 4D Server" appears allowing you to select the 4D Server v11 SQL database to connect to. Here you have three opinions:
- Recent: This option allows you to choose from recently opened databases.
- Available: This option shows a list of all available databases to choose from.
- Custom: In this tab, you can specify the name and the Network Address of the database which you want to open.
- Available: This option shows a list of all available databases to choose from.
- Recent: This option allows you to choose from recently opened databases.
When are you ready with your selection, just click "OK" to connect to the remote server. At this point 4D Developer acts as a client.
