Tech Tip: What is XLIFF?

XLIFF (XML Localization Interchange File Format) is a standard XML-based format that enables localization. It supports a full localization process by providing tags and attributes for review comments, the translation status and metrics such as word counts.

XLIFF replaces STR# resources in 4D v11 SQL.

4D v11 SQL supports the XLIFF standard for the localization of interface text and titles.
You can use XLIFF for:

- Object Names in the Property List of the Form editor.
- Window Titles in the Form Properties dialog box.
- Static Text, such as checkboxes, button titles, etc.
- Menu editor
- Help Tips editor
