Tech Tip: Using DIALOG with the new * parameter

There is a new optional * parameter for the DIALOG command in 4D v11 SQL. This parameter allows the form being displayed with DIALOG to be opened in a new window, in the current process, while the pre-existing window is still responsive. Previously if the DIALOG command was used to open a form in a new window that window acted as a modal window and the pre-existing window was unresponsive.

If the new * parameter is used when calling DIALOG there must be a window in which to open the form (created via the Open window or Open form window commands). If not a syntax error will be returned and the DIALOG command will fail.
