Tech Tip: Copying and pasting tables
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 11 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: November 25, 2008

In 4D v11 SQL you can copy a table to the clip-board. To copy tables select one or more tables in the Structure window and press CTRL+C or or Command+C.

You can paste the copied table(s) into another database by opening the Structure window of the database and pressing CTRL+P or Command+P. You can also paste the XML description of the structure of the copied table(s) in a text editor.

NOTE: Another way to move tables from one 4D v11 SQL application to another is to export the structure into an XML file (if using this method, you will have to create a new database).

For that, go to menu bar
File>Export>"Structure definition to XML File..."
Then, go to menu bar
File>New>"Database From Structure Definition..."

Copied tables can also be pasted into the same database. The resulting table will be named "Copy of [tablename]".
