Tech Tip: Turn Off unneeded Form Events for Speed
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: | PLATFORM:
Published On: October 27, 2000

When the developer creates a form, certain form events are turned on by default. This is to assist the developer with rapid application development. However, if some of the default form events are not going to be used, the events should be turned off to increase the efficiency of the database application. To quickly do this, go to the form property list and click on the first item with the control key down. This will toggle all the events to be on or off. Once all the events are toggled off, check only the events that will be used in the form.
Note: For some events, if the form event is off, the object event will not occur even if it is checked to be on in the object property list.
