Tech Tip: Creating Users as the Administrator

It is common to see databases where users were created in the Passwords editor by the Designer. Although this may make sense when you create those users, you should be aware of the following limitation: if users are not created by the Administrator, you will not be able to export them and then reuse them in an upgraded database.
For example, if your database needs to be rebuilt using 4D Insider, you will have to manually redefine users and groups created by the Designer for that database. On the other hand, users you created as the Administrator can be exported from the original structure and imported into a new structure.
For more information see "Saving and Loading Groups" in Chapter 9 of the 4th Dimension Design Reference.
