Tech Tip: 4D Server broadcasting UDP Port
PRODUCT: 4D | VERSION: 11.3 | PLATFORM: Mac & Win
Published On: January 21, 2009
4D Server v11 SQL uses UDP to publish the database name. However, it does not use a fixed port. For 4D Server v11 SQL Release 3 the port used is 49157 or higher.
If the UDP ports are blocked (by a firewall for instance) and the database does not appear in the Available tab when connecting to a remote database you can still connect to it. Go to the Custom tab and enter the IP address of the 4D Server to connect.
In order to see the database in the Available tab of the Connection to 4D Server window, ensure that the UDP ports 49157 and up are not blocked.
Note - These port numbers are not officially documented and could change with new releases of 4D Server.
