Dragging and dropping external information into 4D is quite easy. You can extend the concept discussed in this Technical Note to an interface object that can parse text information being dropped and distribute the parsed results to different fields in the database. A good source of information may be blocks of text containing specific data that the user does not need to type. Simply drag and drop into a "container" that takes care of finding what's required and puts the formatted information in the appropriate fields.
