4D releases its products as full packages and does not provide upgraders for previously installed versions. This means that when you run the installer you are actually installing another copy of your 4D software into a new directory (unless you choose the same directory during installation).

Among the possible problems caused by this could be broken shortcuts. If you have installed a new version of 4D and are using the same icon or shortcut to launch 4D, chances are you are not using the newly installed version. To fix this; locate the installed location for the new version and use the new icon for 4D or 4D Server.

Note: This applies to beta and hotfix versions as well.
